Who Is Kimberly Winter, the Woman Who Holds the World Record for the Loudest Burp?
Kimberly Winter, a 33-year-old from Maryland in the United States, is well known for her incredibly loud burps. Her younger sister is also a loud burper! Winter claims that despite her parents’ repeated requests to burp quietly, she has never complied. Even at dance practice, she would burp to amuse her friends.
As Winter grew older, her boyfriends asked that she refrain from belching near their families. When she was forced to leave a pub in Ocean City, Maryland, after burping while drinking a beer, she quickly realized that her burps were louder than she thought. Winter says that she is proud of her ability to burp loudly despite the unpleasant responses she has encountered. Kimberly says, âI love to be loud and proud!â
What Made Her Take Up the Challenge?Â
Kimberly Winter uploaded a loud burping video on TikTok in September 2022. She quickly started to gather a following by releasing more videos of herself burping after her admirers were impressed by the volume of her burps.
After eating different foods or while saying the names of her followers, she would burp. Winter enjoyed entertaining her followers, and she frequently appeared on TikTok Live to respond to their requests for burp-related content. Performing “closed-mouth burps,” “big monster burps,” or burping people’s names are just a few instances of such requests. Winter stated that she enjoyed seeing the reactions of her followers when she burped. “That is just magic to me. I love to see their faces.” Furthermore, burp enthusiasts on TikTok and YouTube encouraged Kimberly Winter to beat the record for the loudest burp by a woman.
An Inside Look at Kimberly’s Attempt to Break the World Record
Winter attempted to beat the record for the loudest female burp in a Maryland radio studio. She struggled with jitters during her first few efforts, but on her fourth try, she was finally able to belch loudly at 107.3 dB and narrowly beat the 14-year-old record. The decibel levels for the other three tries were 97.5, 107, and 103. Winter had tried a number of foods and beverages before settling on a combination of breakfast, coffee, beer, and even water to prepare her for this accomplishment. Her technique involved taking a deep breath and harnessing it for a mighty burp.

This wasn’t her first attempt. A previous effort had fallen short due to specific criteria set by Guinness World Records. With help from a former classmate, Eric Messick, who owns a music company, she found her way to meet the requirements and secured a spot in a soundproof room at a local radio station, DC101. After a few interviews and 15 minutes of three futile attempts, Winter burped up to a record-breaking decibel level, 107.3 dB, breaking the previous record. Although Kimberly Winter successfully broke the record, she felt she could do better. âIâm really excited that I beat it, but Iâm even more excited to break the record again,â she said. However, she has never backed down from her statement that she is always proud of her loud burps!
