When growing up, parents are often the first and biggest role models for their children. But when parents are also celebrated athletes, it becomes a dream for the child to not only reach the same level but also surpass them. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson followed in his father’s footsteps, as is Charlie Woods, son of Tiger Woods. Mya Lesnar, the daughter of WWE superstar Brock Lesnar, is another example of how the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. While still young, the budding athlete is already making her father proud by breaking records and making a name for herself.

With a WWE superstar for a father, Mya, too, is keen on becoming a pro athlete

Born on 10th April 2002, Mya was introduced to the glitz and glamor of having a famous dad from a very young age. However, the title of being a celebrity offspring is very far down on the list of her most notable accolades. She is currently pursuing her education at Colorado State University after transferring from Arizona State University, where she majored in criminal justice. Mya and her twin brother Luke have maintained a low profile despite their father’s celebrity status. However, Mya has been making waves of her own!

Along with a penchant for academics, Mya is excelling in her athletic pursuits, proving she has inherited her father’s capabilities and work ethic. She participates in the shot put, hammer throw, and discus throw teams at her university. While she has said that joining the military would be her dream job, it seems sports could very well be a possible alternative.

Even as a junior on the Colorado State track and field team, Mya’s impressive performance has earned her the spotlight. Her most recent achievement was setting the school record in the shot put competition during the Mines Alumni Classic meet.

During the competition, her first two attempts landed her in the 16-meter range, placing her in first place. While the fourth and fifth attempts resulted in fouls, her record-breaking sixth toss topped the competition by nearly 3 meters. With the throw reaching 18.50 meters, she broke the previous school record of 17.55 meters!

According to her school, the toss has placed her at nationwide first rank for women’s indoor shot put. The win also earned Mya the title of “Student Athlete of the Week” by the Colorado State University track and field team, the CSU Rams.

This isn’t her first accolade, either. During her time at Arizona State University, she earned the All-Mountain West Honors, an award given to the students who excel in the field of athletics and their academic pursuits. She placed first in the weight throw at the indoor Mountain West Championships and third in the shot put at the indoor and outdoor conference championships.

Mya is definitely following in the footsteps of her father, Brock Lesnar

The younger Lesnar has taken many pages out of her father’s book, Brock Lesnar. The elder Lesnar has his own long list of athletic accomplishments and is one of America’s most gifted sportsmen. Before earning the title of WWE Champion, he was an NCAA Division I wrestler at Minnesota and won a championship in 2000. He then participated in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, becoming champion in the heavyweight division. Brock Lesnar also tried out for the National Football League by joining the Minnesota Vikings in 2004 but was released during training camp.

Mya has undoubtedly made her father proud with her recent accomplishments and shows no signs of slowing down. With some speculating that Mya may even shoot for a spot in the 2024 Olympics, opportunities are starting to blossom for Mya to make a name for herself in athletics.
