Allison Harvard, America’s Next Top Model Runner-up, Was Once a Creepy Viral Icon
Long before social media influencers became mainstream, Allison Harvard was already gaining attention online. Most people today know her from Americaâs Next Top Model, where she finished runner-up twice. But long before reality TV, she was known in early Internet communities for her unusual self-portraits, which later turned her into one of the first viral icons of alternative Internet culture.
Allison Harvard first became a viral Internet figure in the mid-2000s after her self-portraits were shared widely on 4chan.
Allison Harvard was born on January 8, 1988, in Houston, Texas, and grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. Before she ever entered modeling, she loved art and photography. She attended Louisiana State University and later the University of New Orleans, studying art-related fields.
In the mid-2000s, Harvard began posting self-portraits online through early platforms such as MySpace and DeviantArt. These were not typical photos. She often created characters with pale makeup, dramatic eyes, vintage clothing, and haunting expressions. The images looked more like scenes from a surreal story than regular portraits.

Her photos began to spread slowly beyond her own pages. Around 2005â2007, users on the image forum 4chan began repeatedly sharing her pictures. The community gave her the nickname âCreepy Chan,â referring to the eerie, dreamlike tone of her work. She did not create that name herself, but it became strongly tied to her online identity at the time.
The attention was sudden and intense. Harvard later explained that the photos were just artistic experimentsâshe enjoyed exploring characters and emotions, not trying to frighten anyone. Although she had not planned to become a well-known figure online, she ended up becoming one of the early viral personalities of the internet era, admired for her creativity and unique look.
Allison Harvard built a professional career in modeling while returning to her artistic roots through painting and photography.

In 2009, Allison Harvard auditioned for Americaâs Next Top Model (ANTM) after a casting agent discovered her online. After appearing on television in Cycle 12, many viewers immediately recognized her from Internet culture. Her wide eyes, thoughtful expressions, and calm personality set her apart from other contestants. She performed consistently well during photoshoots and became one of the most talked-about participants of the season. In the end, she finished as runner-up.
Two years later, Harvard returned for Americaâs Next Top Model: All-Stars (Cycle 17). Although she once again reached the final two and finished second, she cemented her reputation as one of the most memorable contestants in the showâs history.

After ANTM, Harvard continued to work professionally as a model. She appeared in runway shows, including New York Fashion Week in 2012, for designers such as Gemma Kahng and Malan Breton. She modeled for brands such as Chromat and Richie Rich and became the face of the perfume âImpalpableâ by designer Michael Cinco.
Harvard also explored acting, appearing in the 2012 independent film Insensate. But over time, she returned more deeply to her roots in visual art. Today she paints, creates illustrations, and continues to take photographs. The creative freedom she first discovered online remains central to her identity.

Outside of her professional life, Harvard married Jeremy Burke in 2021, and the couple welcomed a child in 2024. In recent interviews, she has spoken about balancing work, art, and motherhood, and about how her early Internet experiences shaped her views on creativity and self-expression.
