When Lonnie Johnson was in high school, he was the only black student to attend a science fair. He went on to get a Phd. in Science from Tuskegee University and work at NASA. While working at home, he had the idea of a squirt gun. He then built a prototype using PVC pipe, Plexiglas, O-ring seats and so on, and this invention became the Super Soaker.Lonnie Johnson
