On 7 August 1982, a four-year-old boy was struck in the face by a foul ball at Fenway Park. Jim Rice, likely realizing that paramedics may not get there in time, quickly scooped up the boy and carried him into the clubhouse where the Red Sox's medical staff gave him life-saving first aid.
