Experts have found a rare species of giant tortoise that was believed to have gone extinct over a century ago. Chelonoidis niger phantasticus, a subspecies of Galápagos tortoise. A specimen was discovered in 1906, and another was discovered in 2019. Researchers recently proved that the two specimens are related.
