The couple Kristy Manzanares and husband Kenneth Manzanares were celebrating their 18th anniversary with their three daughters on a week-long Princess Cruises voyage from Seattle to Alaska in July 2017.

On July 25, 2017, there was a “music murder trivia” game that was arranged for the evening on the ship. Soon, some passengers heard Kristy’s helpless screams coming from her cabin, but they thought it was part of the game to make it more entertaining.

Later, Kristy Manzanares, 39, was discovered on the floor of her cabin with blood all over the place. Her husband, Kenneth Manzanares, admitted his crime and was arrested on July 26, 2017.
Reports suggest that when authorities asked the dad of three kids what prompted him to do this crime, he said, “She would not stop laughing at me”.

Manzanares revealed that he had a verbal fight with Kristy on the night of the killing. During this hostile argument, she told him that she wanted a divorce in front of their kids. She also asked him to get off the ship and go back to Utah.

At that moment, he told their adult daughter and a minor to leave the cabin. When their daughter tried to re-enter the room, she heard her mom’s screams, and her dad would not let her in. She then went to the balcony of the neighboring room and saw her father standing over Kristy, beating her repeatedly on her head with his closed fist.

Kenneth Manzanare pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and faces a life sentence in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. (1, 2)
