In 2008, United Airlines damaged musician Dave Carroll's guitar, and then declined to reimburse him. So, Carroll composed a song about the incident, called United Breaks Guitars, and posted it online. The song then became a huge PR nightmare for the company and is said to have plunged its stock price by 10 percent, costing shareholders $180 million.
