In 2007, a man named Michael Sparks, bought a rare 1823 copy of the Declaration of Independence for $2.48 at a Nashville thrift store. It was one of the 200 "official copies" of the Declaration of Independence commissioned by John Quincy Adams. The document was later auctioned off for $477,650.
