6. Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari was found to be the heaviest living person in 2013. He lost a whopping 1,195 lbs to get to 150 lbs as of now, making him the person to lose the most weight.

In 2013, Khalid Bin Mohsen Shaari had to be airlifted to the hospital – but fast forward four years and the story has completely changed. Khalid weighed 1,345 pounds when he had to be carried by air to the hospital. Since then, his doctor had confirmed that he had lost 700 pounds through medical procedures, diet, and rehabilitation.


It was during his late teens that Khalid put on the most weight. He did not leave his bed for three years. It was only after the Saudi King Abdullah intervened that Khalid was taken to the hospital. The king financed his treatment. Six months after the treatment, Khalid was able to sit upright and move around in a customized wheelchair. He had lost 710 lbs, almost half his body weight, in just six months!

In 2016, the 17-year-old walked for the first time in his teen life. In November 2017, there was a report by Al Arabiya that Khalid had lost 1,195 lbs and currently weighs 150 lbs. (1, 2)

7. Jaime Hathcock’s “light-bulb moment” happened when he ordered XXL shirts and 44-inch pants – and they didn’t fit. He then hit the gym and transformed himself completely!

When the XXL shirts and the 44-inch pants didn’t fit, Jamie Hathcock climbed onto the scales to measure his weight. He says, “That’s when it really sank in. I jumped on the scale and I saw 320 pounds!” He recalls that he was 185 pounds in the ninth grade, but with his love affair with unhealthy food, this was bound to happen.

Hathcock started his weight-loss transformation by first tracking the calories in his daily diet. He tried to stay in a calorie deficit. In just four months time, he was able to lose 40 pounds. After that, he started indulging in workout routines. He hit the gym and started doing HIIT (high-intensity interval training).

One year later, he dropped to 198 pounds from 320 pounds. Now he is a muscular, fit guy at 212 pounds. (source)

8. Lindsey Rae was over 280 lbs in weight. She was depressed and eating whatever she wanted to cope with it. But once she was able to lose 15 lbs in just three weeks, she got addicted to staying fit. With proper diet and exercise, she came down to 120 lbs and ran over 22 5K races at the start of 2015.

In an interview with Trimmed&Toned, Lindsey Rae talked about her daily routine during her transformation. She had had enough with the unhealthy lifestyle where she was stuck for quite a long time. So, she made a New Year’s resolution and decided to stick with it for the first time. When she lost 15 lbs in just three weeks, she was motivated to keep on going. Her hard work and determination motivated thousands online.

Before losing weight, Lindsey was never keen on running. But now, she had completed 22 5k runs since 2015! She is also training to be part of marathons. Prior to her transformation, she would gobble up everything that came her way. There was no filter when it came to food. She says, “Pasta was my biggest problem. I could eat it literally at every meal.”

Kate Writer took social media by storm with her transformation. She is almost unrecognizable! The first thing Kate did was to take charge of her diet. She let go of all processed food and turned to fresh and healthier produce.  When she started seeing results with just diet change, she was motivated to work out and keep losing more weight. She succeeded in losing 88 lbs in only seven months.

While sticking to only diet changes, Kate started with a 1,200-calorie meal plan, but she had to increase that in order to incorporate workouts in her routine. Although she first focussed more on cardio, she turned to strength training later to build muscles and stay toned. She adds, “My favorite type of training now is definitely functional training and CrossFit-style workouts. I need to feel breathless and my heart needs to be pumping for me to feel as though my workout has been worth it.”

Christina Phillips appeared in the second season of My 600-lb Life. She gained the accolade of being the person to lose the most weight in the entire history of the series. Her struggle with weight started when she was a child. There was a lot of domestic tension between her parents, and she would take comfort in food. By the time she was 12, her weight was 294 lbs. Before she undertook gastric-bypass surgery, she was almost immobile and relied completely on her husband Zach to take care of her.

Prior to the surgery, the surgeon estimated that Christina might be consuming 7,000 calories a day! Even though she has lost 525 lbs of the 700 lbs, she still suffers from body image issues. It has been suggested that she consult a therapist for help with that. (source)
