In a scene set in the Times Square, Will Smith’s character Robert Neville is seen walking past a billboard which has a huge poster of Batman Vs. Superman movie long before it was ever even made. When asked about the presence of the poster, director Francis Lawrence replied that the writer of I Am Legend, Akiva Goldsman, wrote an early draft with the two superheroes, though the idea was discarded, and the script never saw the light. 18 In the episode “Bad news” of How I Met Your Mother, Marshall’s dad has a heart attack in the end, and throughout the episode, there’s a hidden countdown to the time it would happen.

Throughout the episode, numbers appearing on ordinary objects counting down from 50 to 1 can be seen, with the “bad news” eventually being revealed after “1”. During the final scene, a parking meter can also be seen in the background displaying a red ‘expired’ state. The idea of counting down towards the bad news in the background was taken from the 1988 movie Drowning by Numbers in which numbers from 1 to 100 appear or are spoken by the characters.(source)
